PARIS, FRANCE – 2 MARCH 2018 – China Mobile International Limited (CMI) today hosted the opening ceremony of its French subsidiary in Paris, France. Ms Gao Yuanyuan, Minister-Counselor for the economic affairs of the China Embassy in France ; Mr Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Former French Prime Minister, Special representative of the French President for China affairs ; Mr Claude Raynal, Senator, President of the France-China friendship Committee of the Senate ; Mr Patrick Devedjian, Former Industry Minister, President of the Hauts-de-Seine region - as well as Mr Sha Yue-jia, Vice President of China Mobile Communications Corporation, officiated the ceremony.

Ms Gao Yuanyuan mentioned, “China Mobile is the largest telecommunications operator in China. During President Macron’s official visit to China, China Mobile was elected as a member of the China-France Entrepreneur Committee. By establishing a subsidiary in France, China Mobile can improve its services to customers in the country.”
Mr Jean-Pierre Raffarin added, “I’m delighted that a telecommunications leader like China Mobile is expanding to France. Today, one in eight people in the world are customers of China Mobile. Its partnership with French telecommunications operators will surely result in great opportunities as they endeavour to expand overseas.”

Mr Sha said, “As Sino-French relations continue to grow, China and France strive to reach consensus on important developmental issues while working to broaden and deepen co-operation. Echoing China’s Go Out policy and Belt and Road Initiative, CMI’s French subsidiary will act as a link facilitating trade between the two nations. We are keen to work together with French telecom operators to improve the interconnection of global information and communications infrastructure, as well as collaborate and exchange insights into innovations such as 5G networks and IoTs. Besides providing high quality local telecommunications services for Chinese enterprises, we will also act as a bridge for European companies that are looking to enter the China market, and help our customers achieve business globalisation.”

CMI is the only telecommunications operator among the inaugural members in the China-France Entrepreneur Committee. CMI’s French subsidiary will endeavour to provide telecommunications services for European enterprises and carriers, and provide European countries with customised, high quality Asia-Europe integrated telecommunications solutions. With the establishment of the subsidiary, CMI aims to strengthen business ties between companies in the two countries and promote Sino-France trade and development.

Information and communications technology is developing at a breakneck pace in today’s hyper-connected world. In view of that, China Mobile is executing on its “Big Connectivity” strategy, which outlines China Mobile’s ambition to globalise its business to meet increasing global demands in data consumption. CMI is continuously accelerating its pace in expanding global network deployment and scale of connectivity. The company presently owns 40 submarine and terrestrial cables, 138 PoPs, and expects to complete 10 global Internet data centres (IDC) construction in 3 years.
